A sensational winter wedding in Bath.
Take a moment to enjoy an unforgettable wedding extravaganza! Taking place across many of Bath's historic wedding venues, this celebration was a perfect blend of love, elegance, and a unique sense of energy that only Michelle & Steve can bring.
Even before sunrise, the stage was set at Bath's Theatre Royal for a day brimming with merriment and laughter. After the morning preparations at the adjacent 1885 rooms, Michelle's made her grand entrance on stage unveiling her sensational gown to her father amidst the applause of her nearest and dearest. In all my years as a wedding videographer, there has never been a more memorable and dramatic bridal reveal, incredible!
Meanwhile, Steve and the groomsmen were undergoing their own beautification process at the couple's home in Fairfield Park, a stone's throw from St Stephen's Church in Lansdown where my second shooter, Rhodri, captured all the action. Once the guests were seated in the packed church, Michelle arrived with her father, bridesmaids and flower girls in a horse-drawn carriage, before her procession up the aisle with her father to the iconic 'Zadok the Priest'. After vows were exchanged in a festive ceremony with personal readings from their guests, the congregation were surprised by Bath singer / guitarist Tom Martin who performed 'Wagon Wheel' from the balcony, a nod to Michelle's southern roots.
After confetti on the steps, we embarked on a whistle-stop tour of the city on a fleet of red routemaster busses, of course pausing at The Royal Crescent for some photos with the wedding party. The Guildhall hosted the next section of the day which started off with a drinks reception and a speech by Steve. Continuing the musical theme of the day, the groom finished with a rendition of 'Country Roads, Take Me Home' - a tribute to Michelle’s homeland, together with message that wherever in the world life takes them, home is where they're together.
After the wedding breakfast and further speeches, Tom, who had performed throughout the day led guests in a joyful march to our next location at The Roman Baths. Hosting their wedding in the city they call home, was an opportunity to show the American contingent everything the city has to offer, which includes regular torrential rain!
At The Roman Baths, guests enjoyed more musical performances including the weekend's unofficial anthem 'Love Story' by Taylor Swift which got everyone dancing. The day then moved to the adjacent 'Pump Rooms' where the couple sliced into the 'Cheese Mountain' before taking to the dancefloor, accompanied by the band who performed all the classics.
Towards the end of the evening the American crew got to experience a quintessential British wedding tradition which is the men stripping down to their waists. Tastefully captured by me, of course.
Following a day that commenced before the first light of dawn, the couple bid farewell to their Bath wedding venue amidst a thunderous ovation—a fitting finale to an utterly remarkable day!
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from Michelle and Steve, it’s the profound impact the couple has on their guests' experience. From the start the day, there was a continuous positive atmosphere where you couldn’t help but feel joyful and uplifted. If you bring the energy, it radiates out leaving hearts aglow and spirits soaring!
