Magical summer wedding film at West Wycombe Estate

In June last year I was delighted to film the wedding of Ellie and Peter in the beautiful area of West Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. The couple chose videography coverage starting at St Lawrence’s Church which sits on National Trust land with spectacular views of the surrounding villages. It’s well worth a visit! The church was wonderfully light and spacious meaning it was possible to get a really good perspective on events. It appears producers of the film “Bridget Jones’ Baby” thought the same as the interior was used during the wedding scene of Bridget and Mark Darcy.
Their ceremony venue also had a childhood memory for Ellie as twenty years prior, she waited outside the church with a friend to meet the singer Tori Amos following her 1998 wedding. Her wish came true and a photographer took a photo of Ellie beside the singer which was published in many national newspapers. Tori apparently said that the photo was one of her favourites from the whole day!
After the ceremony, Ellie and Peter were whisked away by horse and carriage to their wedding reception in the grounds of the West-Wycombe Estate. The day was coordinated by Louise Barcock from Big Green Space, a company who specialise in turning green spaces into fully functioning wedding venues. It was great to work alongside Louise and the other suppliers who all contributed to this incredibly successful event.
To add an extra dynamic element to their wedding film at West Wycombe Park, I was able to fly the drone at a couple of points during the day to capture the epic scenery and marquee that had been erected on the bank of the lake. It’s important to me that any aerial filming does not attract unnecessary attention from the guests so I was able to fly over the lake and quickly capture several different views within a short flight before returning to ground to film the guests enjoying the reception drinks and entertainment.
After the meal and speeches it was time for ‘Cocktail Hour’ - a new trend which I spotted at a few weddings in 2018 and I think it’s a fun ways to set the mood for the evening festivities. Following a celebratory Aperol Spritz, guests gathered to watch Ellie and Peter take to the floor for the first dance. I love the moment in the highlights film where her dad and sister watch on proudly!
Before I said my goodbyes, I took the drone for a quick flight again as the sun was setting over the hills. When I got home to back up the footage, I noticed the church from the earlier ceremony on the horizon which I didn’t spot at the time. I thought it made the perfect final scene for Ellie and Peter’s wedding video at West Wycombe park.
